The Bureau of Meteorology of Australia stated on October 10 that Sydney and the Blue Mountains areas received 200 to 400 mm of rain over the weekend, causing rivers to flood, traffic disruption, and thousands of people being forced to evacuate their homes. More than 10,000 people were left without power and over 60 schools were closed.

A spokesperson for the New South Wales Emergency Service said that the center received more than 2,700 calls for help overnight. Calls for help have exceeded 10,000 since October 5. The Bureau of Meteorology also warned that the heavy rain could cause flash floods in the south of New South Wales and that there could be winds of more than 90 km/h per hour.
