In recent years, to ensure the smooth completion of the migration of migratory birds, Hunan Sanshan National Park Administration, together with the Chenbeima Ethnic Autonomous County People’s Government, has implemented responsibility, strengthened supervision, severely punished illegal poaching, killing, poisoning, and disturbance of migratory birds, providing a safeguard for migratory birds’ south migration and north migration. They also carried out migratory bird protection touring publicity and education, seeking the understanding, support, and participation of the whole society, attracting volunteers and bird lovers to participate in wild patrols and bird migration actions. They have cumulatively released tens of thousands of kilograms of carp, carp, and bighead carp seedlings, repairing and improving the wetland ecological system, and the diversity of the wetland bird food chain has significantly increased, providing a warm welcome for the south-bound and north-bound migratory birds. As of now, the number of migratory birds residing in the park has increased by more than 8,000 compared to the first time Hunan Sanshan National Park was established, and the number of migratory bird species has increased from the first scientific research of 97 species to the current 123 species. This includes the country's rare and endangered animals such as the black-necked swan, gray crane, brown-headed goose, Chinese fall mandarin duck, green-headed duck, and the six national second-level protected bird species, including the large swan, red hawk, gray crane, white egret, mandarin duck, etc., which are 20+ species.
