List 14 – Bear Cat (Pungole)
Binturong (scientific name: *Arctictis binturong*), also known as the bear cat, is the second largest species in the Cat Family. It resembles a small black bear and has a thick tail that is about the same length as its body (70-80cm). Its fur is black and fluffy, with varying shades of light brown. The tufts of fur at the ends of the ears can reach 5cm, with white edges. It has thick limbs and five-toed claws; its tail has a wrapping function different from that of other animals in the same family. The head, around the eyes, forehead and lower jaw are dark gray, and the long whiskers beside the lips are white.
