A Shark Ate a Pufferfish and Became 'The Last Supper'
A pufferfish in the Maldives was bitten off by a shark and immediately inflated its entire body with spines, perfectly lodged in the shark's mouth, resulting in the shark's asphyxiation.
The shark's 'last supper' occurred last month on a beach in the Maldives, and was captured by marine biologist Lauren Arthur. She said, 'It's a very interesting discovery, I've been working in the Maldives for over 5 years and have never seen anything like this.'

The shark and pufferfish were already dead and washed up on shore before sunset.
Arthur noted, 'From my observations, the pufferfish inflated in the shark's mouth, expanded all its spines, and completely blocked the shark's gills.'

Therefore, no more water could pass through the shark's gills, and both animals asphyxiated.
She added, 'It's incredibly amazing and heartbreaking, as the shark's misjudgment led to the deaths of two beautiful creatures.'
