The Most Interesting Private Wildlife Park in Adelaide: Free Koala Hugs and Kangaroos

Adelaide has a zoo where you can free hug koalas!!

In fact, there are many zoos in Adelaide, but my friend told me that only Gorge Wildlife Park can offer free koala hugs.

Gorge Wildlife Park is a privately owned wildlife park, where the owner has adopted many stray animals, as well as animals collected by the wildlife park owner during travels around the world.

When we arrived at the park entrance, there was written on the ticket booth: koala hug 10 AUD per person—Huh? I realized that from December 12, 2019, because too many people wanted to hug koalas in this park, in order to ensure order and protect the koalas, the park set this threshold.

Of course, if you don't hug the koala, but just pat it and take photos, it won't cost extra, and if there are not many people, you can still play with the koala for a long time.

Koalas are really super cute, but it feels a little tired after hugging for a while, while the cute koala is always eating leaves.

Koala hugging photo time: 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM. If the daily weather forecast temperature exceeds 34 degrees, the two afternoon sessions will be cancelled, only 11:30 AM session will be kept.

In the park, some animals with aggressive tendencies are kept in cages, while the rest are in free-range status. We have many opportunities to interact with kangaroos, peacocks, etc. without touching them.

Although I have seen many kangaroos, I have never seen a white kangaroo. This park also has a lot of them.

If you look closely, you can also find that the kangaroo pouches are not far away, and there are little kangaroos inside, which is super cute.

The entire zoo doesn't look very big, but it takes up half a day to explore—because you will stop to see different animal species, you will want to take more photos because of the cute blue penguins, and you will forget about time because of feeding kangaroos...

Of course, in addition to common Australian quolls and ostriches, you can also see various rare monkeys from the South American rainforest, long-necked animals from the African grasslands, camels and lions from the Arabian deserts, and the meerkats and a whole cage of bats that only appear at night (the brave can also feed the bats), alligators, otters, and rare birds from the Southeast Asian jungle...

It's a little scary to observe bats up close...
