Gentle and warm, with the burgeoning spring. On February 19th, over 200 beautiful white swans descended upon the Henan Minquan Yellow River Gobi Wetland Park, they swam together in the water at one time, and soared in the sky at another time, adding a beautiful landscape to the early spring Yellow River Gobi Wetland Park.
Wetlands are an important ecological barrier in the natural environment, known as ‘the lungs of the Earth’. It is understood that in February 2013, the State Forest Administration issued a notice approving the establishment of the Minquan Yellow River Gobi Wetland Park, which covers a wide area and the water level is stable year-round, the water quality is clear and transparent without pollution, and the good ecological environment attracts a large number of birds to live and stay, with a large number of migratory birds staying and overwintering here every year, and 20 or more species of birds have been discovered to live and nest here, including the black-headed duck, which is listed as critically endangered by the World Wildlife Fund, and approximately 160 individuals were observed and inhabited in the Minquan Yellow River Gobi Wetland Park.
Recently, February 2nd was the 24th World Wetlands Day, and China has newly designated 7 international important wetlands, and the Minquan Yellow River Gobi Wetland Park is among them, and it is also the first provincial international important wetland.
It is understood that the migratory bird habitat requires high ecological requirements, and only with clean water quality and fresh air, they will visit or settle in, and white swans have been landing and inhabiting the Minquan Yellow River Gobi Wetland Park for consecutive years. In order to create a good habitat for these ‘white angels’, the wetland management department of the county has continuously increased its publicity efforts, and it has publicized the importance of loving and protecting birds to surrounding residents, and the surrounding residents have consciously loved and protected birds, and have opened a ‘protection umbrella’ for the swans and other migratory birds, and this place has gradually become a veritable ‘migratory bird paradise’, with flocks of birds flying and dancing, which has become a normal landscape.

‘The ecological environment of my county’s Yellow River Gobi Wetland Park is getting better and better, and more and more rare birds are ‘settled’ in the Yellow River Gobi, and we not only take inspection protection measures for these birds, but also frequently feed the birds, and caring for and protecting birds has become a conscious behavior of Minquan people.’ Li Jie, Director of the Minquan Yellow River Gobi Wetland Park Management Center, introduced.
