Recently, the deputy director of the Tangjiayhe National Nature Reserve, Tao Jian and his colleagues were conducting daily work patrols in the protection zone. When they arrived at the Caijiaba protection station, Baiguancun area, they heard several wild boars shouting across the river. Upon closer inspection, at the foot of a mountain across the river, there were three wild boars scavenging for food, including one male adult wild boar, one female adult wild boar, and one juvenile male wild boar.

Tao Jian said that they should be a family, the wild boar dad was holding a deer corpse in his mouth, the wild boar mom and the young wild boar were grabbing it with him. They observed for half an hour, this family of three was continuously scavenging deer, then a group of short-tailed monkeys arrived, the wild boar family discovered it and immediately left the scene and ran away. As to the cause of death of the deer is still unclear, it may be natural death, or it may have been attacked by a yellow-throated fox.

It is reported that wild boars are omnivorous animals with extremely sensitive sense of smell, they will eat twist-horn deer, deer, small deer and other animal corpses. The Tangjiayhe protection zone has a good ecology and many wild animals, wild animal corpses become a good food for wild boars when the winter and spring food period is relatively short. Previously, the protection zone's infrared camera had captured a video of wild boars and crows sharing a twist-horn deer corpse.
