Swallows Building Nests with Mud
Yangzi Evening News, April 3rd report (reporter Mei Jianming, correspondents Wu Jiaomin) For several days, under the eaves of a resident's house in Fangjiaoying, a neighborhood in Nanjing's Gulou District, a nest built over two years for swallows has been occupied by two swallows. These two swallows have been coming to this place for two consecutive years, carrying mud to build nests, laying eggs and hatching chicks.

According to the female homeowner, the swallows have been building nests for more than two years. Every spring, two large swallows come here. After a period of time, four or five baby swallows are born, and the adult swallows resume their responsibilities of raising their young. In winter, they leave.

Under the nest of the swallows, the ground is covered with swallow droppings, some of which have not yet fallen. However, the female homeowner never disturbs or drives away this nest. She proactively cleans and removes the droppings every day.

'Seeing adult swallows carrying mud to build nests, laying eggs and hatching chicks, and feeding the baby swallows has become one of our family's daily joys,' said the female homeowner.
