Every year, tens of thousands of migratory birds stop over and migrate to the Kolqin National Nature Reserve.

A paradise for migratory birds.
As the weather gets warmer, flocks of north-migratory birds arrive as scheduled, such as in the Khorchin Banner, Tongliao City, Kolqin National Nature Reserve, bringing dynamism and vitality to the quiet grasslands.
In this reserve, on the 'Crocodile Island' wetland, the calls of hundreds of small swans and duck-geese are incessant, while in the mirror-like lake surface, they forage and play, and at times they take off and fly, the lake reflects the shadows of trees, creating a beautiful natural painting like poetry and painting.
The total area of the reserve is more than 120,000 hectares, with special landforms creating diverse ecosystems including forests, grasslands, wetlands, and lakes, making it an important migratory channel for birds in East Inner Mongolia. In recent years, the Khorchin Banner has adhered to the concept of green ecological development and implemented a series of environmental protection measures, resulting in a significant improvement in the ecological environment. The Kolqin Nature Reserve Administration has increased monitoring, patrol, and inspection efforts, severely cracking down on illegal hunting and poaching, and actively promoting bird conservation knowledge to the public to protect the safe migration of migratory birds.
According to observations, the first batch of migratory birds in the Kolqin National Nature Reserve, totaling nearly 10,000, are mainly small swans, gray geese, bean geese, redhead ducks, and duck-geese, as well as crane species such as black-necked cranes and white cranes.
