Indonesian Resort Staff Capture Rare "Blanket" Octopus, Resembling a Fairy While Swimming
Recently, staff at the NAD Lembeh Resort in Indonesia captured a swimming female Blanket Octopus, showcasing a beautiful iridescent membrane while in motion. The video quickly spread online, reaching over 76,000 views and sparking interest in this unusual species.

According to National Geographic Magazine, these colored octopuses are named 'Blanket' after 'the strips they lay out between their arms.' When threatened, they extend their arms, creating a sheet-like outline to frighten off potential attackers.

These octopuses are very strange, with males having short lifespans, ending shortly after mating. Female octopuses, however, will also die shortly after laying eggs.
Another interesting thing about Blanket octopuses is that the females' 'blankets' can detach. Therefore, divers sometimes find these ghostly rainbow bedsheets floating without their owners. Isn't nature really amazing to watch?
