On the afternoon of March 15th, a black-feathered, beautiful bird was found on the Yuyaji River next to Zhongda Purple City in Nanchang’s Qingyuanpu District, attracting everyone’s attention.

Subsequently, the reporter arrived at the riverbank and found one of the birds. It was then enjoying foraging and playing in the water, with red and black feathers, plus a beautiful neck curve, resembling a black-clad beauty, noble and elegant, even with people watching, it remained calm and self-possessed.

Ms. Xu said: “Its beak is different from ordinary ducks; it’s red. So it feels quite special and doesn’t look like the animals in our lake.”
Ms. Li said: “When the weather is good, seeing the beautiful scenery here, the swans also come to bask in the sun.”
The reporter contacted personnel from the Nanchang City Wild Plant and Animal Protection Bureau. After picture comparison, it was confirmed that it was an Australian black swan originating from its native land.

Mr. Liu Chun, Deputy Director of the Nanchang City Wild Plant and Animal Protection Bureau, said: “Swans are social animals. Since there are no wild black swans in China, this solitary black swan probably escaped from a nearby resident’s home or a farm. Please observe it quietly.”
