Spring Temperature Warming, Feeding Parrots Need to Pay Attention to These Five Points, Easily Master Spring Feeding Small Skills
Hello everyone, I am a parrot-delayed chef. In the previous issue, I chatted with everyone aboutFalsification: Can all parrot breeds be kept individually? Parrot lovers can apply for permitsToday I'd like to talk about the parrot's feeding in spring, as well as the necessary precautions. It's mainly about keeping warm, food, disease prevention, etc. Let's learn about it together below.

Parrot Spring Feeding Management
Almost all of China has entered spring now, the temperature is rising and the weather is unstable, with cold spells followed by warmth. Spring brings a period of unsettled weather, and parrots are particularly sensitive. In addition, animals enter the breeding season, and parrots are no exception. Many bird owners' parrots have developed, and a successful pairing is needed to let the parrots live happily and avoid disturbance. Some single parrots haven't paired yet, so we need to pay more attention during their feeding, preventing them from 'being too active' and avoiding sudden movements or noises that might startle them. As for food, we need to reduce the supply of fatty feed. Instead, feed them more fruits and vegetables. We also need to pay attention to the parrots' behavior and droppings regularly to find out any abnormalities and solve them promptly.
I remember our class teacher said, 'Autumn freeze, spring heat, spring weather is unstable, alternating between cold and warm.' This makes parrots particularly sensitive. Healthy parrots and those in mating season are full of energy, have a regular daily routine (morning calls, eating, and afternoon naps), while sick parrots are lethargic, with drooping eyes, lack of energy, elevated body temperature, reduced appetite, and curled up posture, often coughing, having difficulty breathing, with viscous nasal discharge, extending their heads and breathing through their mouths, making 'gurgling' sounds, with viscous liquid on their corners of their mouths, and their droppings are thin and yellowish-green or yellowish-white. Some severely ill parrots may even have neurological symptoms and die. If you observe these symptoms, it's likely the parrot has city avian infectious disease.
Stool

When a parrot is sick, we can observe its droppings. Abnormal droppings are generally thin, with viscous or foamy liquid, or even blood. Some have green or white heads and surrounds with watery appearance, with increased frequency of defecation. We should treat it immediately. Normal droppings are thin and covered with white material. When feeding vegetables, don't feed too much at once, as excessive vegetables can cause diarrhea. Wash the vegetables thoroughly before feeding to remove pesticide residues and reduce moisture content.
Food
Parrots are late-maturing birds, meaning their development is not complete when they hatch from their eggs. Their eyes are not yet open, their feathers are sparse, and they have no independent living ability, so they need to remain in the nest and be cared for by their parents. During parental care, we should pay attention to the preparation of feed. For example, we can feed the mother bird with egg millet to supplement her nutrition.

If done for a long time, they can become obese due to excessive oil. During the breeding period for female birds, they need a lot of minerals and trace elements, such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, selenium, and molybdenum.Claw Trim

Parrots' claws will grow long when living in the cage for about a year. If the parrot's claws are too long, it will affect the parrot's activities and standing. Overgrown claws can even insert into the cage gaps and break their toes and toes. Generally, if the claw length exceeds 2/3 of the toe length or bends backwards, the claws need to be trimmed. When trimming, use a sharp scissors, cut a 1-2mm section outside the blood vessel on the inner end of the claw, and then use a nail file to smooth it out.
Bath
Parrots need regular baths. If parrots don't take baths regularly, they can get tail gland inflammation.
Bird species have a special gland on their bodies. Without sand baths and water baths, they are susceptible to mosquito bites, bacterial infections, or contamination from droppings and injuries, leading to tail gland inflammation. The tail becomes swollen, the feathers stand up, and the appetite decreases. Therefore, parrots need to take regular baths to prevent tail gland inflammation.
