This German Shepherd is Basically Abandoned – Don’t Make These Mistakes!
I'm a Northeast rural female worker, and I just made a video about how I spend my time in my grandma's rural home during the peak of the coronavirus outbreak, training a dog. The dog in the video is a German Shepherd. I felt a bit heartbroken seeing it happen like that.

Prisoned German Shepherd in a Cage
Although the dog looks fierce on the outside, it quickly becomes like a docile little lamb, lying down for me to pet, and every time I have to lock its cage, my heart aches. I realize many problems from this.

The German Shepherd's eyes break my heart
This cage is its home, no matter winter or summer, it spends it here, so much so that it considers it the safest place. If I were to take it out, if it gets hurt or feels threatened, it would rush back to the cage without coming out. It completely lost its dog's prestige.

Hiding in the Cage
This German Shepherd is two years old, it's a female dog, it's been pregnant once, and it only gave birth to one puppy, which unfortunately died. I suspect it might be related to malnutrition.

Corn flour mixed with boiled water is the dog's daily diet.
I'm not criticizing my family for not feeding the dog well, I just want to share my experience and lessons to help others. Also, this dog is very timid. It will lie on the ground with its ears down and its tail tucked in when scolded by its owner. Probably because it was beaten when it was young.

The Owner Scolds the German Shepherd
I'm not criticizing the owner for hitting the dog, I just want to summarize my experience and prevent misunderstandings. Finally, let's see it happily eating dumplings beside me, maybe it doesn't feel as sad as I imagined.

The Dog is Happy Eating Dumplings
In conclusion, if I were to raise such a kind and gentle dog, I would build it a warm and sheltered dog house, and even let it sleep inside the house. Unless I take it out to the yard, I wouldn't use a chain to restrain it, allowing it to have full freedom in the yard to exercise and relax. Besides, I would try to feed it nutritious food to help it grow strong. I wonder if I am too naive, I hope everyone will leave a comment and teach me more about raising dogs, thank you!
