With a Bite Force of 1250 Pounds, Real Footage Shows Jaguar 'Knocks Out' Caiman, Teeth Gripping Neck

On Earth, there is a basic competition relationship between all living beings, generally, living beings in 'land' and 'water' areas have their own survival areas and do not compete with each other. This does not mean that they are completely isolated from each other. According to wildlife photographer Gudkov Andrey's shot in the January 2023 Pantanal National Park in Brazil, he accidentally captured a competition between the two species. A jaguar 'knocked out' a huge caiman, which shows the jaguar's fierce state. Let's take a look at the process to see how it happened.

According to scientific reports, in the lens we saw a jaguar lurking in the forest. Because of its ability to 'hide', it is difficult to be discovered. Even other animals passing by may be easily concealed by the jaguar's skin. Moreover, the jaguar is a 'swimming athlete', so it can easily catch the approaching caiman.
Of course, when this jaguar discovered the caiman, it didn't immediately capture it. Instead, it spent a lot of time observing (and the jaguar's observation time reached up to several days). When it was about to attack, it only took a few seconds to 'kill' the prey, which was very fast.

The jaguar's capture of the caiman was also the same. Gudkov Andrey said that when the jaguar captured the caiman, the caiman also 'struggled' for a 'moment', hoping to return to the water quickly, but the jaguar's teeth bit into the caiman's neck (and didn't let go), so it finally couldn't struggle successfully.
This allowed the jaguar to capture the caiman. Because the caiman is very large and heavy, the jaguar spent a lot of effort to pull the caiman onto the shore. Let's take a look at the basic information of the jaguar and the caiman.
Jaguar Basic Information
The jaguar is a large cat species in Central and South America, also known as the American leopard. The lifespan of this species in the wild is about 18 years, and about 20 years in captivity. It is the third largest cat species, with a weight of 70-180 kg and a bite force of 1250 pounds, so it is very strong. Jaguars mainly live in Central and South America, but due to human influence, they have lost two-thirds of their original habitat. Now they are mainly in the Amazon basin. This species is in the Low Risk category, approaching Vulnerable status, so the sense of crisis of the jaguar is constantly increasing.

Caiman Basic Information
Basic information is not the information of a very powerful creature, so it is normal for the jaguar to defeat it. According to scientific reports, the caiman is a member of the short-snouted alligator family, belongs to the caiman genus, is a small to medium-sized crocodile, the average length of the common caiman is up to 250 cm, with an average length of 4 feet to 6 feet (1.2 meters to 1.8 meters), feeds on fish, birds and insects. The overall population status of the caiman is good, so its distribution is not much different, mainly in rivers in Central and South America, which is its basic situation.

From this we can see that the jaguar's 'attack power' is indeed strong, and the caiman being captured is normal. This is the 'survival of the fittest' between the species.
