Which of Beijing’s 8 5A Scenic Areas Have You Visited?

As people's living standards improve, tourism and living have become necessities, and 5A scenic areas are the hottest destinations for tourists to travel abroad. Currently, Beijing has 8 5A scenic areas, and as the capital, these 8 scenic areas are all historical sites with immense cultural heritage that is unparalleled. Below, we will introduce these 8 scenic areas based on the scenic area.

1The Palace Museum, as the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties worked and lived, has countless artifacts. As the main filming period for palace dramas, it shows the methods that each family used to seek their own lives, although exaggerated, but can better showcase the costumes and daily life of the time, and also allows people to understand more about the characters of the time. The Palace Museum is one of the sights that everyone must see, including foreigners. You can finish visiting the Palace Museum in half a day. Before visiting the Palace Museum, you can also see Tiananmen Square and the People's Congress Hall. The Palace Museum ticket is affordable, 60 yuan in peak season and 40 yuan in off-season.

2The Summer Palace is a royal garden and one of China's Four Great Gardens, integrating Jiangnan characteristics, with mountains and water. The main attractions include Fuhuang Temple, Seventeen-hole Bridge and Stone Boat. The entire scenic area is around Kunming Lake, and it can be seen in one day. The Summer Palace ticket is 60 yuan in peak season and 50 yuan in off-season.

3The Temple of Heaven is a royal place for praying and offering sacrifices, and the attractions to be seen include Qianyin Hall, Echo Wall and Circular Mound Temple. The area of the Temple of Heaven is large, and all the attractions are on the same line, it will take at least 3 hours to finish visiting. The Temple of Heaven ticket is a combined ticket of 25 yuan, which is beyond imagination.

4Badaling—Mutianyu Great Wall are two scenic areas. Badaling is the most famous section of the Great Wall, but I personally recommend Mutianyu Great Wall. Mutianyu and Badaling have the same Great Wall, even longer than Badaling, but fewer tourists. The tickets for both scenic areas are 35 yuan, which is much cheaper than other Great Wall locations.

5The Ming Thirteen Tombs currently open are Long Tombs, Ding Tombs, Zhao Tombs and Shen Road, of which Ding Tomb has the palace open, with the display of Dragon Hat and Phoenix Crown in Ding Tomb. The combined ticket for the Ming Thirteen Tombs is 80 yuan, or you can purchase individual tomb tickets.

6Congwang Palace was formerly the residence of Andian, later the residence of Prince Yixin. It is close to Houhai and Niangjiaxiang, which can be visited together. The ticket price is 40 yuan, which is relatively high among Beijing's ticket prices.

7Olympic Park, as the main venue for the 2008 Olympic Games, has attractions such as Bird's Nest, Water Cube and National Conference Center, with a very large area, and it's free, and it may not be possible to finish visiting in one day.

8Yeming Park was just upgraded to 5A in 2020. Personally, it doesn't deserve 5A, only the Big Dipper is worth visiting. The ticket price is 20 yuan, which is not expensive, just treat it as visiting a park.

Beijing's 8 5A scenic areas have affordable ticket prices and are must-visit destinations for everyone in Beijing. These scenic areas are mostly located within the city, with convenient transportation. Come on, Beijing welcomes you!
