Venice, Italy, is known as one of the most romantic cities in the world, with a large number of elegant buildings and crisscrossing waterways, it is a world-renowned tourist destination. That place is Shuanglang Ancient Town. Shuanglang has two islands, one is Nanzhao Scenic Island, and the other is Jiaqi Island. I prefer Jiaqi Island.
Jiaqi Island is surrounded by 'sea' on three sides, more accurately a peninsula. It is the most romantic place in Shuanglang Ancient Town, where many celebrities have settled. Yunnan famous dancer Yang Lili built the Sun Palace and Moon Palace on Jiaqi Island. The island also has a Zhilan Hut (Green Bamboo Cottage), owned by Zhao Qing, the builder of the Sun Palace and Moon Palace.
Looking from a height, the shape of Jiaqi Island is like a dolphin glancing back in the sea, or a turtle peeking out of its shell to see the outside world.
Most of the houses on Jiaqi Island face the 'sea', and other houses can also enjoy the vast expanse of Erhai Lake and the scenery of Cangshan Mountain in higher positions.
Although Erhai Lake has a 'sea' name, it is actually a high-altitude freshwater lake, like a pearl inlaid in the middle of the (Erhai Lake Dalaizi – Big Dali Terrace) at an altitude of nearly 2,000 meters.
In the past, Jiaqi Island was quite poor. It is said that when Yang Lili moved here to live in the year 2000, there were only about 40 households on the island. At that time, China's economy was accelerating its rise. The tourism market was far less prosperous than now, and not many tourists came to see Shuanglang and Jiaqi Island. Unlike now, most streets and alleys have become commercial streets, and most households were engaged in business or lived by renting.
The buildings on Jiaqi Island retain the rich Bai style. Here, the essence of Cang scenery (Cang Erhai scenery) is collected, and it is known as 'the first village of Cang Erhai'. It is said that the wife of the founding emperor of Dali, Yang Guixian, used to practice here.
The villagers of Jiaqi Island were originally fishermen, and you can still find traces of fishermen's culture by visiting every corner.
The houses on Jiaqi Island are all flowing, and every family grows flowers, presenting the romanticism and pursuit of elegance of the Bai people. For them, wealth is not the main factor affecting their philosophy of life, but the pursuit of beauty comes from their bones. No matter how luxurious or not luxurious their houses are, they are unique in carving and painting.
Many ancient towns have the phenomenon of indigenous people moving out after commercialization. The main body of the residents on Jiaqi Island is still Bai people. Lucky tourists can still see the scene of local residents setting up banquets.
