The ancient city of Tian Shui was established in the Pre-Qin dynasty. In the Ming Dynasty, it gradually evolved into five city-states: East Gate, Big City, Middle City, West Gate, and Fu Xi City, forming a 'Five Cities Linked Together' pattern. Before Tian Shui, there were over 2000 ancient residences, and hundreds of ancient alleys, mostly the residences of officials, wealthy families, celebrities, and scholars, built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. With the changes of times, after hundreds of years of sun and rain and unavoidable human damage, now only the Fu Xi City and West Gate remain with over 200 ancient residences. These solidified architectural history is the soul of this historical city of Tian Shui, witnessing Tian Shui's splendid culture and glorious history.

In addition to this, from the Sui Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, this ancient city in Northwest China gave birth to more than 150 Confucian and meritorious officials, countless people from Tian Shui who could both write and fight, who left from their hometowns and wrote a brilliant chapter in Chinese history.

Time has passed, exceeding thousands of years; although it has experienced war and natural disasters, seen the spring and autumn of the world, the ancient city of Tian Shui still stands tall and unyielding, the Temple of Literature and the Academies still stand quietly, which is worthy of admiration. In the sedimentation of time, this ancient city has moved forward in its own way, embracing and integrating.
