Take You to See the Most Romantic Christmas Markets in the World, Toronto Distillery District, Classic Movie Filming Locations

As the simplest and most direct introduction to the Distillery District in Toronto, it's essentially Toronto's 798 Art Zone. Just like it was transformed from old factories, it's now one of the city's trendiest places.

The Distillery District, also known as Gooderham and Worts Distillery, was established in 1832 by Gooderham and Worts, who were brother-in-law and nephew. They mainly produced whiskey and other spirits for sale across Canada and even exported to the global market. In the 1960s, Gooderham & Worts Distillery became the largest distillery not only in Great Britain but also in the world at the time. However, after World War I, the ban on alcohol led to a decline in business, and in the 1990s, the distillery finally stopped producing alcohol. In 2001, the area where the distillery was located was acquired by Cityscape Holdings Company and renovated, opening in 2003 as Toronto's largest cultural and arts center.

Today, this North America's best-preserved Victorian industrial district has over 100 businesses, including bars, restaurants, cafes, museums, fashion stores, handicraft shops, and so on. You can also see various workshops in the distillery, such as glass workshops, bread workshops, chocolate factories, and beer workshops. There are also several galleries where many craftspeople and artists work on site, selling finished products. There are also various live music performances, outdoor exhibitions, markets, and themed events throughout the year. Not surprisingly, the Distillery District was named one of the world's 10 coolest shopping districts by 'The Globe and Mail'.

Walking along the cobblestone streets, passing through narrow alleys and European-style squares, this rustic and striking red brick wall makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. In the corners and alleys, you can see the tools and machinery of the old industrial era, with mottled traces reminding us of the industrial era. The relaxed atmosphere and nostalgic style also attract filmmakers from all over the world, such as 'Chicago', 'X-Men', 'Twister', 'Miami Vice', which have been filmed here.

The most popular in the Distillery District is the annual Christmas Market, which runs from mid-November to Christmas Eve. The early opening of the strong Christmas atmosphere makes everyone in the city feel warm. As Christmas approaches, the market becomes more and more bustling, as if all Toronto residents have gathered here. The queues from street to street, even with special security personnel to guide the surrounding traffic, giving people a sense of excitement like watching Yuanxiao flower lantern festivals at home.

The Christmas market is full of food and gift stalls selling Christmas goods. There are gingerbread houses, sweet cakes, hot wine and other traditional Christmas delicacies, as well as unique food from all over the world, such as wind potato, German sausage, Quebec style pudding. The Christmas tree ornaments, dried flower and branches made into Christmas wreaths, and handmade lace and linen tablecloths are also popular sales items.

In the corners of the Christmas market, there are fireplaces for tourists to warm up. The scent of pine fills the entire market. When it's cold or tired, you can sit down, drink hot chocolate, and recharge your energy.

Still hesitating? If you come to Toronto on Christmas Eve, don't miss this Christmas market with European-style atmosphere. It's said to be one of the 'Top 10 Best Markets in the World' and has a very lively and spectacular scale. Be careful, the crowd is very dense, so don't get lost with your companions ~
