Why Did You Ever Go to Beijing?
I found this receipt while cleaning up last night and burst out laughing. It was at least five years ago when several of us roommates suddenly decided to go on a spontaneous trip on December 29th at 3 pm, immediately heading to the train station to buy tickets – a 3 am train to Beijing to watch the flag raising ceremony, and we also bought return tickets. We ended up with this 5 yuan service charge for picking up the tickets remotely, while our train tickets were only 4 yuan. We ran wildly into Tiananmen Square, standing in the front row, trying to capture that moment of glory, our hands shivering with the cold, almost dropping our phones. We also visited Jingshan Park (Yuanmingyuan) and spent a whole day wandering around Beijing, and everyone ate a jianbing guozi (a savory crepe with various fillings). That's basically a budget-friendly, spontaneous trip—even though none of us are willing to spend money on jianbing guozi now, nothing can compare to the taste of that time.
