It is a genuine core tourism district of Rizhao Coastal Tourism.
The town consists of four islands. The existing Phoenix Island and Dragon Residence Island cover an area of approximately 145 acres and a construction area of about 68,000 square meters, with an investment of approximately 370 million yuan. Relying on the unique ancient civilization ruins of Dongyi Culture in Rizhao City and surrounding areas, modern marine culture and exotic cultural styles are integrated into it.
Phoenix Island and Dragon Residence Island highlight the themes of Dongyi Culture and Marine Culture, perfectly integrating northern traditional architecture and fishermen's folk courtyards with tourism and leisure. Phoenix Island is mainly composed of a tourist gathering service center, a themed hotel, a fisherman experience store, a fisherman seaweed house, and a shopping street. Dragon Residence Island is mainly composed of Dongyi Culture, Fishermen Culture, Ceramics Culture, Tea Culture, and Farmer Painting theme exhibition halls, as well as Long Temple, Wealth God Temple, Academy, Wish Pavilion, and Theater. The main street is a characteristic food street, South Street is a creative street, and North Street is a bar street. Fishermen courtyard-style guest houses are scattered throughout, providing a unique seaside leisure experience.
Since its trial operation on April 29, 2018, the town has attracted a large number of citizens and tourists, with nearly 6 million visitors annually, and a peak of more than 60,000 visitors on a single day, making it a rising 'internet celebrity' town. Currently, there are more than 230 shops covering five categories: characteristic food, homestay, cultural exhibition, handmade creative products, and leisure bars, all operating with 'genuine quality, transparent pricing, unified quality, unified marketing, unified service, and unified management'.
Dongyi Town was awarded 'AAA-level National Tourist Scenic Area', 'National News Photography Base', and 'Provincial Service Industry Characteristic Town Cultivation Unit', and won the '2017 Annual City Tourism Development Innovation Award'.
