In early 2020, the people of the whole country worked together and actively fought against 'epidemics'. To protect the safety of tourists, Kunming Zoo experienced its first closure since its construction. Now that the 'Roundwood Cherry Tide' flowering season has arrived, in order to allow national tourists to not miss the full bloom of the garden, Kunming Zoo has launched 'cloud viewing cherry blossoms' through various media platforms, allowing tourists to experience a different 'Roundwood Cherry Tide'
Roundwood Mountain's Centennial Flower Tide is an annual spring event for Kunming. In the Qing Dynasty's Jiaqing year (1876), Li Zuiquan's 'Jin Chan Dao·Lu Feng Ji Jing' described the scenery of Roundwood Mountain as follows: 'The eye is dazzling, a beautiful spring scene. Drunk by the east wind, thousands of cherry blossoms gather together. The sea of is undoubtedly the first of all beautiful flowers, with tall branches on every tree, and a slender silhouette like the setting sun…' This shows that people had already come to Roundwood Mountain to admire the cherry blossoms. With the increasing number of Yunnan cherry blossoms, as well as the transplantation of Japanese cherry blossoms, and later the cultivation and reproduction of Zhong cherry blossoms, it eventually became large-scale. There are 2500 Yunnan cherry trees, 1000 winter cherry trees, 300 Taiwan Zhong cherry trees and 2500 Sea trees planted in the garden, making 'Roundwood Cherry Tide' one of Kunming's 'Sixteen Scenic Spots' . Every spring, it's a good time to go to Roundwood Mountain for a picnic and cherry blossom viewing, to see flower lanterns and listen to music, and it has gradually become a habit of life, and the number of visitors has increased year by year, forming the 'Roundwood Cherry Tide' natural and human landscape, and 'Roundwood Cherry Viewing' has become a famous custom in Yunnan, which has continued for a hundred years and is still thriving today.

In order to better inherit this cherry blossom viewing custom and make 'Roundwood Cherry Tide' more characteristic of folk festivals, Kunming Zoo has held the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Roundwood Mountain since 2000. Through colorful cultural and artistic activities, it has injected vitality and energy into the traditional cherry blossom viewing custom. The rich folk culture resources displayed in various cherry blossom viewing activities allow local residents and tourists from other places to learn and experience the cultural charm of 'Roundwood Cherry Viewing' more deeply. 'Roundwood Cherry Tide' has become an important platform for showcasing and promoting 'South of the Rainbow Mountains' and 'Spring City'
Winter is gone, spring has come, gradually warming, flowers in full bloom. Thousands of cherry trees are under our protection, and we also ask the citizens of Spring City and tourists from all over the country to rest assured, patiently wait, and welcome the arrival of 'victory in epidemic prevention' and a sea of cherry blossoms
