Natural landscapes are beautiful, and artificial landscapes are not necessarily without merit. Especially those places that were not originally intended to be tourist attractions have taken on a different charm many years later.
Today I will talk about 'Yulong Lake' in Lushun, Lushun County, Sichuan.
Yulong Lake Scenic Area is located in the eastern part of Lushun County, Lushun Town and Bili Town. Due to its azure water resembling jade and its surface resembling a giant, multi-legged dragon, it is named 'Yulong Lake'. Yulong Lake Island is abundant, with picturesque scenery, and is hailed as 'the first lake in Southwest China'. Originally named 'Three Creek Mouth Reservoir', it covers an area of 13 square kilometers, with a water surface area of 6 square kilometers, north-south length of 25 kilometers, and storage capacity of 2510 cubic meters, irrigating 100,000 acres of farmland, and producing over 300 tons of fish annually.
Yulong Lake is in a prime location, situated in the Chongqing, Neijiang, and Lushun triangular area, next to the Lushun-Yong Highway, radiating a wide area and convenient transportation. It is 38 kilometers from the Lushun City District, 35 kilometers from Yongcheng City, and 98 kilometers from Chongqing City. 'Visiting Pu Zhao Temple, viewing Yulong Lake, drinking Liang Shen Well, and experiencing the ancient town' is what Lishi Town showcases to tourists based on Yulong Lake, a provincial scenic area, and its historic and cultural towns.
I think initially, the construction of Three Creek Mouth Reservoir may not have considered it to be a tourist attraction. At that time, the main consideration was the needs of the people. The main function of a reservoir is to irrigate farmland and serve as a source of drinking water. In the early years after the establishment of New China in the 1950s and 1970s, proactive planning was a key strategy. In order to prevent resource exhaustion in case of emergencies, many places were built with reservoirs.
Furthermore, unlike Lushun and Chengdu, which are characterized by hilly areas, with abundant water sources along the rivers, they are not easily captured. The purpose of building a reservoir is to more effectively utilize water resources.
Years later, it actually provided us with another function, which is truly a wonderful surprise.
Today, Yulong Lake has a beautiful environment and pleasant climate. The lake is surrounded by mountains, with undulating mountains, distant peaks like dark clouds, and lush green mountains nearby, creating a beautiful scenery. The scenic area has an area of 27 square kilometers, with abundant tourism resources. There are 'Liang Shen Well', 'Mishi Ancient Street', and other historic sites to the east of the lake. To the west, there is Pu Zhao Temple, which was built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The elegant and rustic Minnan folk houses of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, such as Mishi Street, are full of legends. The clear and sweet Liang Shen Well has a beautiful legend.
Yulong Lake has become a model for ecological aquaculture in Sichuan Province, with a variety of fish species and abundant quantity, including national-level protected rare animals such as '' and '' for viewing and appreciation.
Today, if you go to Yulong Lake, you can look out, the vast lake surface is connected with the sky, with a misty and vast expanse, like a poem and a painting. If you look closely, the fish swim in the shallow bottom, and herons and gulls gather in groups. Ducks whisper to each other. In the morning, the sun rises in the east, and the light illuminates the lake. In the evening, fishing boats sing and smoke rises.
Now, with the emerald water and jade islands, Yulong Lake has become a green garden for leisure, vacation, meetings, business activities, and conferences in Chongqing.
Lishi Town was formerly known as Lishi Stack, with a glorious history of 'running south to Lushun, running west to Chongqing, and staying in Lishi'. It has deep cultural heritage. The well-preserved Pu Zhao Temple, Tongtong Temple, South Hua Palace Ancient Opera House, and Hanlinfu witnessed the long history of Lishi. The elegant and rustic Mishi Street folk houses of the Ming and Qing Dynasties are full of legends. The clear and sweet Liang Shen Well has a beautiful legend.

Perhaps for locals and some demanding visitors, Yulong Lake is just a small pond, and the guests of the Jiangyang Jiu Jiu are not picky, they just appreciate the few rare and precious things, and they think that these things should be enjoyed. As Tao Yuanming said: 'Long in the cage, returned to nature'. This nature is the barrier of the inner heart.
For those who are adept at catering to the public, engaging in social interactions, and making a living, their skills are of course impressive. However, there are always those who hope for simple sincerity and directness, and their nature seems to have a common point with the rural areas and the natural landscape. 'Loving the Mountain and the Lake' is not a bad thing either.
As for whether you like it or not, it depends on your state of mind.
