The Most Beautiful Island in Yunnan Isn't in Lugu Lake, But in Dali's Shuanglang
When talking about traveling to Dali, one cannot help but mention Shuanglang Ancient Town. It's located on the northeast shore of Erhai Lake, with the town center built right by the sea. Due to its altitude close to 2000 meters, it enjoys four seasons without summer, with spring fading into autumn continuously, making it incredibly comfortable.
Among the three islands of Erhai Lake, the most distinctive Nanzhao Style Island is located in Shuanglang. Its length is only about 350 meters and its width is only about 200 meters, making it very mini.
Erhai Lake is one of the most beautiful freshwater lakes in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, and it's the heart of Dali. Its existence has given rise to a unique Bai ethnic civilization.
Nanzhao Style Island has two piers, east and west, with the largest pier located in the east, facing the neighboring Jianbang Village and Yiqi Island across the 'sea'.
This island is one of Dali's 'green lungs,' with a very high vegetation coverage. You can enjoy a distant view of the magnificent scenery of Cangshan Mountain and the bay of Shuanglang Island on the island.
A ferry pier is located on the south side of Shuanglang Ancient Town, from where you can take a ferry to Nanzhao Style Island, with a journey time of about five minutes. In winter and early spring, the coastal areas of Erhai Lake gather a large number of seagulls, flying high and low, as if dancing gracefully, and they are in harmony with the ferries, small islands, and bay scenery.

The altitude of Nanzhao Style Island is 1988 meters, and the island is natural. However, most of the attractions on the island are developed later.
The most distinctive building on the island is the Nanzhao Palace, which integrates the architectural styles of the Tang Empire, Nanzhao, and Tubo.
Historically, the Nanzhao Kingdom was located between the Tang Empire and Tubo. At that time, the leader of the kingdom was closer to the Tang Empire, and the establishment of the Nanzhao Kingdom was also due to the help of the Tang Empire.
Nanzhao Style Island has unearthed many precious artifacts, such as stone knives, stone axes, stone chisels, copper-handled knives, and leather-shaped axes.
