Calgary Outlet Collection is Canada’s largest outlet mall, located in the heart of Calgary. Many tourists and locals alike come here to indulge in shopping, and it’s especially busy on weekends with its full parking lots (parking is free!). The mall is huge, big enough to spend an entire day exploring, and you can find almost any brand you’re looking for. I also picked up a lot of gifts for my friends back home, and the prices were very beautiful. There’s also a food area with plenty of delicious food to replenish your energy after all the shopping.
To make our flight the next day more convenient, we stayed at the Calgary Airport Marriott, the closest hotel to the airport. It’s especially suitable for travelers and business people, and the hotel also offers a fitness center and indoor swimming pool, allowing you to take care of your body even while traveling. In addition, the hotel provides spacious meeting centers for business travelers, so you can hold any meetings you need.
That evening, we were back at the hotel, packing our luggage and preparing to return home early the next morning, but suddenly we received a text message saying that our flight was cancelled due to the cold weather, so we had to reschedule and stay an extra day, finally allowing us to have a sweet dream and sleep in tomorrow.
The Calgary Tower is 191 meters high and was built in 1968, located at the intersection of 9th Avenue and 1st Street on Parsippic Square. It was officially opened to tourists on June 30, 1968. The Calgary Tower is famous worldwide because the Olympic flame was lit at its top during the 1988 Winter Olympics; from a distance, the entire Calgary Tower looked like the world’s largest torch. Even now, that flame is still ignited at certain special moments.
Furthermore, because the Calgary Tower is so high, you can see it from any corner of the Calgary city district. It’s actually similar to the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai in my opinion. It takes 62 seconds to go from the bottom to the top using the high-speed elevator. The top section, which is spherical, is divided into three layers: the top floor is a bar, serving various drinks, light meals, and pastries, the next floor is the observation deck and revolving restaurant, and the bottom floor is the entrance. Non-fearful tourists can go to the observation deck to experience it, and the floor of the observation deck is entirely made of transparent glass, making you feel like you’re suspended in the air, with a view of the city and the 80-kilometer-distant Rocky Mountains covered in white snow. In addition, the Calgary Tower’s revolving restaurant is also a major selling point; tourists can enjoy a meal and admire the beautiful scenery of the city while dining.
