Large Bird Enters Residential Community, Turns Out to Be a Nationally Protected Bird Species

Ya'an Daily/North Fortune News: On the 18th, a large bird appeared in a residential community in the Yili district. After receiving a call from a concerned citizen, the Yili district Public Security Branch Hebei Police Station and the Bird Protection Association immediately went to the scene to rescue the bird.
After identification, it was a national level key protected bird, black-necked crane, no visible injuries, preliminarily judged that it was in the process of migration due to physical exhaustion entered the residential community.
The Bird Protection Association staff brought the 'lost' black-necked crane to the bird protection observation point, fed it small fish and water, after eating the black-necked crane's spirit gradually recovered. Currently, the black-necked crane has been sent to the Bingongxi Wild Animal Breeding and Rescue Center for further feeding and observation, and will be released back to normal after fully recovering its strength.
It is reported that black-necked cranes are migratory birds and are national level protected animals, they are rare cranes that live in the plateau area. They will pass through Ya'an every year, especially in Luzhou Dachahe River, Tianquan Liangshan, but black-necked cranes appearing in the city's residential communities are relatively rare.
Qingyi River flows through the center of Ya'an, especially the water dam, Taohua Island and other areas, historically it is a reed swamp and tidal flat, which is the habitat of many rare birds.
In recent years, the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government have attached great importance to bird protection work, invested in improving and optimizing the above-mentioned areas of bird aggregation zone water ecological environment, providing natural habitat and food for birds, some rare birds reproduce on the spot.
