Qingling Net Report (Reporter Song Minghui) On February 13th, Sa Deng Village, various counties, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Region, recorded the national level two key protected animal, the Paliurus Jackal. Currently, the Paliurus Jackal has been recorded in Jiduo County for the first time, reflecting the significant achievements made in the protection of wild animal resources within the Three-River Source National Park.
The Paliurus Jackal, also known as the Minglong Sheep, belongs to the Bovidae family, a typical forest animal, and is one of the typical animals of tropical and subtropical regions in Southeast Asia. It mainly lives in coniferous-broadleaf mixed forests, coniferous forests, or shrublands with a lot of rocks, mainly at an altitude of 1000 to 4400 meters. Its horns are not like those of deer, its hooves are not like those of cattle, its head is not like that of a sheep, and its tail is not like that of a donkey. Therefore, people call it 'Four Not Likes' together with Reindeer, Tufted Deer, and Yak. Because it was first discovered in Indonesia's Sumatra, it is also known as the Sumatra antelope. In some regions of Zhejiang Province, it is also called sheep. It is currently distributed mainly in Gansu, Qinghai, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Tibet, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Shanxi south, and is a national level two key protected animal in China.
According to relevant personnel, it is currently unclear how the Paliurus Jackal appeared in Jiduo County. The Jiduo County Forest Public Security Bureau is further investigating the situation. The appearance of the Paliurus Jackal also reflects the continuous improvement of the ecological environment in the Three-River Source region. It also calls on everyone to start protecting wild plants and animals now.
