Dunhua Royal Deer Farm is located 11 kilometers east of Dunhua City's downtown area, on the south side of Sanduhezhen, Liangshuiquanzi Village, Sha River, and is the earliest, largest, and purest national deer breeding base in China. It is currently a famous Longshan Ginseng planting base, with over 1000 head of Reeves's sika deer raised in mountain and forest and in enclosures, becoming a well-known Reeves's sika deer tourism scenic area domestically and internationally.
This deer farm was banned by the Qing Dynasty as early as the Qing Dynasty, serving as a hunting ground specifically for Qing Dynasty royal hunting of Reeves's sika deer. There has been a long history of local deer raising here for over 400 years. In 1958, the Ministry of Agriculture selected this piece of land with excellent underground water resources, abundant shrub forest resources, superior ecological environment resources and convenient transportation conditions in Northeast China to build a deer farm, considering both history and reality.
After the Dunhua State-Owned Sanduhezhen Deer Farm was built, it immediately became a well-known national state-owned deer farm, domestically and internationally, belonging to the management, recognized by Jilin Province Forestry Administration as the Longshan Reeves's sika deer breeding base. In order to explore new organic deer raising modes and to ensure the advantages of the Reeves's sika deer population, the enterprise began to free-range Reeves's sika deer in 2012, and in October 2014, it obtained national organic Reeves's sika deer certification, becoming the largest and most well-known free-range Reeves's sika deer base nationwide.
The enterprise began to explore non-forestry ginseng planting since 2012, and the current planting area has reached over 400 acres, becoming the best scenic spot in Yanbian for visiting Longshan ginseng non-forestry planting.
Since the development of all-round tourism in Dunhua, the Royal Deer Farm has emerged, and now it has developed into a comprehensive tourism resort with deer farm culture, ginseng culture, Sha River culture, ecological culture and other diverse cultures, forming a resort integrating sightseeing, tourism, agriculture, fitness, leisure and vacation.
