Guillemot: A Cute, Social, and Beloved Seabird

source:https://petssky.com/pets/picture-28417?viewall=true

Today, let's introduce a cute and adorable seabird.

Their name is Guillemot, the national bird of Iceland.

Their back feathers are black, their bellies are white, and their little feet are orange-red.

A triangular big mouth is very eye-catching, the color is very bright.

Looking at them from the front… this is how they look like…

And from the side is like this… Their eyes feel like they drew eyeliner…

Don't think Guillemots look silly and clumsy, they are fishing experts, and their foraging skills are very strong.

They are excellent at swimming and diving, able to dive underwater more than 10 meters

They can catch many small fish at once

Their clever trick is to hold small fish in their beaks, press them against their tongues, so they can capture more small fish

However, because they are so good at catching fish, other seabirds will learn to rush for food when they return to the shore after they catch fish…

It's heartbreaking…

Guillemots usually live in the ocean, and during the breeding season, they return to islands or land near the shore

Guillemots are monogamous, regardless of whether they are male or female, Guillemots will be loyal to their spouses

Female Guillemots lay one egg at a time, and it takes about 6 weeks for the Guillemot babies to hatch

Whether in their habitat or on their migration route, Guillemots always travel in groups and act in unison

They do this for more effective self-defense, to show the power of their large group to other animals, so that other seabirds don't approach

Guillemots are also social little birds, they like to get along with other Guillemots

Every time they migrate to a new place, they often show a 'I don't want trouble' 'I'm not a troublemaker' attitude

Previously, the United States wanted to return Guillemots to the eastern coast, in order to make Guillemots willing to live in that place, they built many fake Guillemots, letting real Guillemots think that there were companions there

However, when they made them, they didn't pay much attention... The fake Guillemots only had 'one leg'...

In order to politely socialize, to express their willingness to integrate into local life and customs, the real Guillemots worked very hard…

It's kind of cute and powerful and loyal, and likes to socialize and works hard, Guillemot babies
