Shangnan Forest Public Security Bureau Rescues Two State-Level Protected Grey Herons
Following the successful rescue and release of a state-level protected Grey Heron at Jinxiya Forest Police Station's Jinxiya Forest Police Station on March 18, a state-level protected Grey Heron was successfully rescued and released by the station on March 19.

On March 19th, the Forest Police Station of Shangnan County's Fuhui Forest Police Station received a call from a citizen reporting the discovery of a bird falling into a resident's yard in Changguan Subdistrict's Triangle Pool Village, West Group. Upon receiving the report, police immediately rushed to the scene and thanked the citizen for their kindhearted rescue of wild animals. After on-site identification and identification, it turned out to be a state-level key protected animal, the Grey Heron. Police brought the Grey Heron back to the police station for a comprehensive 'examination', finding that the Grey Heron had no external injuries, its feathers were full and its movements were free. To further ensure the Grey Heron's health and meet the conditions for wild release, police bought small fish to feed it, providing it with physical strength and ensuring it was ready to fly.

On the afternoon of the 20th, seeing two Grey Herons full of energy, flapping their wings and eager to fly, the police felt that the conditions were met for wild release, and subsequently took the Grey Heron to the Danjiang River, where it was released under the witness of the County Animal Protection Station and the Village Group Leader, returning to nature.
Since the launch of the 'Strict Crackdown on Illegal Crimes of Destruction of Wild Animal Resources' Special Action, Shangnan County's Forest Police Station has highly valued it, insisted on joint efforts of prevention, cracking down, and regulation, deeply and widely publicized, actively investigated clues, dug into the sources of cases, and maintained a strict crackdown on crimes of destruction of wild animal resources. The station carried out surprise inspections of farmhouse restaurants, flower markets, and rural markets.
Through in-depth and wide-ranging publicity, people's awareness of protecting wild animals has been further strengthened. This is the fourth state-level key protected animal rescued and assisted by police and citizens since the beginning of this winter and spring.
In this regard, police warmly remind: Grey Herons are migratory birds, and it is currently the migratory season for migratory birds. Some Grey Herons are exhausted after long-distance flights or due to illness, staying in fields, rivers, swamps, and grasslands. If citizens find them, they should immediately report to the police for rescue. Shangnan County Forest Police Station's telephone number: 0914—6372110. (Tan Congru Liu Kun)
