Wellington Zoo recently received an injured Morepork Owl. The veterinarian wrapped it in a towel to stabilize it, only revealing a pair of bright yellow, round eyes, resembling a rolled-up Mexican wrap, which melted the hearts of netizens.
Wellington Zoo stated that the owl accidentally hit a window and was brought in for medical care. "Our veterinary team found that its eyes had a problem, but the examination did not show obvious injuries. We hope that after a short stay, we can quickly release this little guy!"
Morepork Owls, also known as 'Tasmanian Spotted Owls (Tasmanian spotted owl)', are also known as 'Ruru birds (Ruru owl)' or 'Ruru (Ruru)', a small brown owl, mainly distributed in New Zealand and Tasmania (Tasmania).
According to the DOC Wildlife SOS, 'using fabric to wrap birds is a common bird stabilization method, to avoid animals from struggling and causing injury to themselves or caregivers during medical care or care.' Also, different stabilization methods will be used depending on the treatment area.
