The Pennsylvania Tourism Office said that Phil, the star groundhog of Punkarstown, made his 134th prediction at the time of sunrise on Groundhog Day.

Phil, who was awakened by the cheers of the crowd, was held in the air. Then it grabbed the hand of the person who held it up, and a partner of the Groundhog Club wearing a hat announced that this year's spring will arrive early.

This annual event originated from a German legend. If a furry groundhog can see its shadow on February 2nd, the winter will continue, otherwise, spring will arrive early.

From 2015 to 2019, Phil predicted three times that the winter would continue for six weeks, and twice that spring would arrive early. According to records traced back to 1887, the number of times the groundhog predicted that the winter would continue for six weeks exceeded 100, so this year's result is relatively rare.

In addition, Chuck, the groundhog at the Staten Island Zoo in New York, also did not see his own shadow, and the prediction result was the same as Phil's.
