Ningxia Celebrates the 38th 'Bird Week' – Building a New Era of Ecological Harmony

From April 1st to 7th is the 38th 'Bird Week' in Ningxia. This year's 'Bird Week' is themed 'Building a Good Ecology Together – Love for Birds' to encourage citizens to form good habits of loving and protecting birds. Starting from February 22nd, the Yinchuan City Wetland Protection Center is conducting real-time monitoring of bird populations throughout the city. The data analysis shows that the migratory birds arrived earlier this year and in greater numbers than last year. Yinchuan City boasts abundant resources such as mountains, forests, and wetlands, with a good ecological environment, making it an important migratory route and breeding ground for birds in western and East Asia-Australia-Sino regions. Many migratory birds arrive successively every February, meeting with spring in Yinchuan. According to statistics, the city currently has 241 species of wild birds, with 7 species listed as national level protected species and 20 species listed as national level secondary protected animals. Last year, new 'vulnerable' bird species, the White-shouldered Gull and the Crested Pelican, were discovered in Yinchuan, and the appearance of the Crested Pelican was the first time it had appeared in the entire northwest region. The improvement of the wetland environment and the good ecological environment in Yinchuan have made it a paradise for migratory birds. Thousands of Red-Billed Ducks and other rare migratory birds come together every spring and autumn, and citizens feed these little elves with food such as buns and bread, appreciating the beauty of nature.
