Beautiful Shanglin, Three Rivers City, Yangshan Zhuang White Cliff Fort South Rock
White Cliff Fort South Rock
Located approximately 8 kilometers south of Shanglin, Three Rivers City, near the Tanggu Village, Yangshan Zhuang (present-day Chengtai Township).
White Cliff Fort South Rock cave entrance, a high point adorned on the towering cliff walls, is extremely perilous. With the help of local officer Qin Yu, Xu Xiake tied ropes and climbed and descended into the cave interior, thoroughly examining the cave's terrain.
The cave is divided into three layers: the first cave is very high, seeming to reach the Jade Emperor's throne; the second cave has a gradually rising ground, forming a flat bottomed gorge; the third cave has a large tree growing horizontally towards the outside of the cave, with a flat cave entrance resembling a palm, with steep cliffs on both sides.
This cave is interconnected, with caves within caves, each having its own distinct space. Xu Xiake wrote a poem about it: 'The cave entrance, no one has ever visited for thousands of years; the ancient, gnarled vines, who are they for? To cast your staff into this place, and you'll need your staff; three years with Shangbu Slope accompany.'
