Ganzhou, commonly known as 'Qiancheng', is also known as 'Gan South', which is the southern gateway of Jiangxi Province, the largest in area and with the most population among the district-level cities in Jiangxi Province. Ganzhou is a national historical and cultural city, and also a well-known revolutionary base. Ganzhou is also a Type II large city.

Ganzhou Ancient City Wall was built during the Han Dynasty and has a history of two thousand years. It is one of the Five Ancient City Walls in China.
