Self-Driving Tour Through "Western Shu Bamboo Sea" to Lotus Lake
On March 20, 2020, the self-driving tour route was planned from the downtown of Dujiangyan to Exiang Town—Lotus Lake—Magnetic Peak Town—Lotus Lake—Dujiangyan City. The car left Dujiangyan City, passing through Puyang Town to enter the mountainous road, reaching Exiang. The rapeseed flowers along the road hadn't bloomed yet, the golden color decorated the hills with a different scenery. When the car arrived at Lotus Lake, the jade-like lake was in sight, reflecting the shadows of the bamboo and the mountains, also reflecting my shadow. A gentle breeze blew, and the lake surface that was level just now immediately rippled, shimmering with points of silver light in the sunshine, like scattered pearls. As the breeze passed, the lake water returned to calm.
The Lotus Lake Reservoir is a medium-sized reservoir located at the junction of Dujiangyan and Pengzhou, with Dujiangyan accounting for two-thirds. The forest coverage rate here is particularly high, and it is especially cool in summer, suitable for escaping the heat. The content of negative ions is particularly high, and the two banks of the reservoir are original and beautiful environments. There are winding country roads here, and a wide variety of bamboo species, full of mountains and fields. You can choose to eat, live, and travel in integrated farmhouse restaurants by the lake. When traveling in the countryside, you can breathe the freshest air, taste authentic farmhouse dishes, and appreciate the superb beauty of naturally sculpted landscapes. It is a truly refreshing and breathtaking choice.
The Lotus Lake area is formed by the confluence of seven branches with different shapes, which is like a giant dragon lying in the mountains. It is a rare and valuable feng shui land with danger, spirit, beauty, mystery and ingenuity. Lotus Lake has always been green and beautiful, with winding and long waterways, turquoise waves, shoals of fish, and water birds, which is a beautiful and picturesque natural painting.
Leaving the Lotus Lake pier, drive to Magnetic Peak Town's Lotus Lake, which is known locally as 'Bamboo Sea in Western Shu'. When you enter Magnetic Peak Town and travel along the Lotus Lake reservoir or the lakeside road, you are surrounded by dense and overlapping cypress trees, extending to the horizon. These cypress trees are straight and upright, dense and intertwined, standing tall and elegant, with a different charm.
The Lotus Lake Reservoir has a tranquil lake surface, clear reflection, and gentle waves. It is very comfortable to cruise or drink tea by the lake, or to take a walk and exercise. Even fishing by the lake is a pleasure. Located at the junction of Dujiangyan and Pengzhou, the Lotus Lake Reservoir, which was once only used for flood control and irrigation, now not only has all the functions designed at the time, but also brings joy and leisure entertainment and fresh air to people, and has not only economic and social benefits but also ecological benefits!
Half a day has passed, in front of a field of golden rapeseed flowers, turn to take the Lakeside Road around Lotus Lake to Dujiangyan, the Lakeside Road is narrow but the scenery is beautiful. There are all cypress trees, even the road is in a bamboo forest, piles of freshly cut bamboo for sale are stacked on the roadside. This is also Pengzhou Magnetic Peak's bamboo weaving production area. Bamboo farmers weave all kinds of tools and daily necessities, selling them to the market and increasing their income.
