Red Net Moment, April 12th(Correspondent Luo Wenyu) Recently, the ‘Magu Offering Longevity – Blessing Nanyue’ themed event was staged in the central scenic area of Nanyue, with visitors admiring beautiful scenery, enjoying longevity tea, and wishing for long life.

Legend has it that Magu was the maidservant of Lady Nanyue, and accompanied her in cultivation in the valleys of Nanyue Mount Heng, establishing a medicinal garden where she cultivated valuable herbs such as reishi mushrooms, fragrant root, and hydrargyrum, treating the sick of the people. Later, this kind-hearted Magu also became a celestial being. The locals called her ‘Longevity Goddess’.
According to records, Magu held a celestial peach, apricot, or wine pot, with cranes and deer by her side, and backed by ancient pines and ‘Fu Hai’ (Prosperity Sea). She was said to be eighteen or nineteen years old, beautiful, and claimed to have ‘seen the East Sea three times transform into a paddy field.’ Thus, Magu was used to represent longevity in ancient times. There is also the legend of the West Queen Mother’s birthday on the third of March, where Magu brews wine with reishi mushrooms by the Jiangshu River to wish for longevity, and is named ‘Magu Offering Longevity.’

During the event, professional dancers performed high-altitude performances, with light footsteps and flowing clothes, resembling immortal fairies, allowing visitors to enjoy a wonderful sight. Ancient pines and streams accompanied the performance. In the misty and ethereal clouds, the intoxicating fragrance of flowers delighted the senses. It is reported that the event will continue until April 19th.

Children wrote their wishes on prayer bags.

‘Longevity Goddess’ tied red scarves around the children’s necks.
