Why Tourists Love South Nanshan Old Street's 'Yuzanz,' But Locals Dislike It? Full of Disgust

I really like the city of Ningbo. Ningbo has a particularly rich cultural atmosphere, and the food is also very diverse. Every time I visit Ningbo, I have to go to South Nanshan Old Street and Gulang to explore. I've been there many times and still love it. Especially South Nanshan Old Street, I really enjoy coming here to play.

Besides shopping at South Nanshan Old Street, I also especially like to eat the food at South Nanshan Old Street. For example, a few days ago, I went to Ningbo's South Nanshan Old Street and saw that 'Yuzanz' (oil snacks) was very popular, so I bought some to try. The 'Yuzanz' at South Nanshan Old Street is really busy, and there used to be many people queuing up, and even though there are fewer tourists now, there are still some people queuing up to buy it. I bought a seaweed-flavored one, which is crispy and fragrant with a full seaweed flavor.

However, when I posted the bought 'Yuzanz' on Weibo, I discovered a very interesting phenomenon. Many local Ningbo people were disgusted when they saw me praising the 'Yuzanz' here, saying that the 'Yuzanz' at South Nanshan Old Street is not good at all. These 'Yuzanz' are basically sold to tourists from outside.

I was wondering why this phenomenon existed. It reminded me of the time I was eating food at Nanjing's Fuzimiao (Confucius Temple), and I also posted Nanjing Fuzimiao's duck blood fans and salted duck to Weibo, which also attracted many local people's disdain, saying that the food at Nanjing Fuzimiao is not good at all.

I originally thought it was just Nanjing people picking their teeth, but I didn't expect Ningbo to have this phenomenon as well. Why do they dislike these 'internet celebrity' landmarks' food so much? After analyzing the reasons, I summarized 3 reasons, now I share them with you, do you think they are reasonable?

1st Reason: Food in tourist attractions are relatively consistent with popular tastes, but not necessarily the preferences of locals

Jiangsu's Aoba Fried Pork Steamed Bun is liked by many tourists

Many local foods, some tourist attractions in order to make these foods more loved by more people, so they will make them into very popular flavors. For example, Suzhou's Fried Pork Steamed Bun, if we go to buy it in the local market nearby, we will find that the fried pork steamed buns here are very sweet and a little greasy, and foreign tourists really can't eat them. But local people like to eat it. But in some Jiangsu 'internet celebrity' scenic spots nearby selling fried pork steamed buns, there are many tourists queuing up to eat, and its taste is not sweet, which is appreciated by many tourists. Because it has been modified, local people don't feel it's good. It's reasonable for local people to dislike it.

2nd Reason: The most authentic food is often not in the most popular 'internet celebrity' landmarks

South Nanshan Old Street is popular with many foreign tourists, especially when visiting South Nanshan Old Street, they will buy this 'Yuzanz' to eat. But after asking several local Ningbo people, I found out that the 'Yuzanz' with the best taste and authentic flavor is not at South Nanshan Old Street, but at Gulang. Why do I still think 'Yuzanz' at South Nanshan Old Street is delicious? That's probably because the first time I ate 'Yuzanz', I thought it was delicious, but unlike local people, I have eaten 'Yuzanz' in South Nanshan and Gulang, and only after comparing them can I know which one is the most authentic.

3rd Reason: Food at 'internet celebrity' landmarks is often more expensive than ordinary places

We all know that the stall fees in 'internet celebrity' landmarks are very expensive, so the food eaten in 'internet celebrity' landmarks is much more expensive than the food eaten in other local residential areas, which is also the reason why many locals don't like to go. The price is expensive, and the taste doesn't match the preferences of local people, so it's naturally not loved.

The above is the analysis I made of why many locals dislike food at 'internet celebrity' landmarks. Do you think it's reasonable? If we travel to a place, if we want to eat authentic local food, it's best to ask local people for advice.

Okay, the sharing is over here, we'll see you next time, bye bye!
