Building ‘One Center, One Belt, Five Zones’ – Shangxi Village Actively Develops Rural Tourism

Recently, a reporter saw in Xiaoxi Town, Shangxi Village, that large tracts of farmland had been leveled, and workers were busy plowing the land.

Yibao Farm Manager Feng Zebao is a national grain grower. Not long ago, he contracted part of the land in Shangxi Village. ‘We will plant 5 acres of colored rice here and raise fish in the rice paddies. The village’s footstep trail is also under design, and we believe it will attract many tourists to visit.’

Shangxi Village is the settlement of the descendants of Song Lian, a famous politician, writer, historian, and thinker of the Ming Dynasty, who was praised by Zhu Yuanzhang as ‘the first scholar-official of the founding of the country.’ Shangxi is Song Lian’s pen name. Shangxi Village is formed by the merger of Gutangxia, Qian Shan, Along Hua, and Xiwu Village. With the advancement of the harmonious village construction, the village has fully activated resources and sought transformation.

‘The village needs to develop mainly through cultural revitalization and industrial development.’ Shangxi Village Party Branch Secretary Wu Guangming said that Shangxi Village’s cultural revitalization lies in three cultures: Party building culture, Song Lian culture, and ‘Culture of Justice.’ Walking through the streets and alleys of the village, you can often see family precepts and rules written in front of and behind houses.

Regarding industrial recruitment, Shangxi Village is focusing on ‘four ones.’ According to Wu Guangming, ‘four ones’ are: one Golden Business Card, Song Lian Culture Celebrity; one Happy Road, Along Hua to Qian Shan original road, built on Party building and the Eight Squads two Red Lines; one Heartfelt River, connecting the original village, creating a rural landscape; one Wealthy Mountain, Pangushan utilizes the ‘one village and one tree’ project, unlocking Shangxi’s development engine.

Currently, the village has transferred about 1500 acres of land and commissioned Zhejiang Agricultural University for planning and design. Wu Guangming said, ‘After the village’s land transfer and other policies have smoothly broken through the original village domain restrictions, combined with the merger of village development funds, and village property joint construction subsidy, it has boosted the confidence of villagers to develop rural tourism.’
