A Local Shaanxi Resident Takes You to Explore the Ancient Capital of Xi'an: Experience the Long History and Authentic Shaanxi Cuisine
As someone who has lived in Shaanxi Province for twenty years, becoming a tour guide is a certainty. Growing up in the Thirteen Dynasties' ancient capital, from Xianyang in the Book of Poetry to Xi'an, it's like history and culture are everywhere around me.
This time, let's plan a one-day trip suitable for all ages and genders, and don't miss it!
Early in the morning, waking up and looking out the window, you'll see the ancient and elegant Clock Tower, a landmark building located in the center of Xi'an. You can climb the Clock Tower and overlook the streets in all four directions. You can also ring the bell to make a wish, it's said to be very effective, and don't forget to visit Gu Lou (Drum Tower) nearby.
After leaving Gu Lou, you'll arrive at the most famous food street in Xi'an – Hui Muslim Quarter. There are not only delicious foods but also many things to do. As you enter the street, you'll see shadow puppet shows and Shaanxi-themed souvenirs of the Terracotta Army on the left. On the right, you can find authentic Sour Plum Soup, and if you're lucky, you might also get a refreshing slice of famous Linyang Pomegranate Juice. You can also see the renowned Huayin Old Shadow Puppet Show, and further in, you'll find the famous Jia San Soup Dumpling and Lamb Soup Dumpling. Those who like sweets definitely shouldn't miss Liang Gao (Cold Jelly).
After eating and drinking to your fill, we take a bus to South Square and arrive at the Great Wild Goose Pagoda. This is the Xi'an Qinjiangshan Scenic Area. In the afternoon, climb the Great Wild Goose Pagoda and enter Tangfu Yongheng Garden to experience the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty. At night, you can watch the beautiful musical fountain show, and the popular 'Falling Man' girl, Xiao Mei, also performs here. Walking along the South Lake in Qin Jiangshan at night is a different experience.
