From Ancient Shang Meng Law Country to Aviation Technology City: What to See in Yanliang, Xi'an?

I am Cheng Wen, I started exploring China's tourism resources since 2014, spent four years traveling through every county in Shaanxi, and investigated most of the tourism resources. Now I'm organizing a review of the tourism resources of each county for tourism enthusiasts to reference. Today I'd like to talk about Xi'an's Yanliang District

To the northeast of Xi'an, there is a place called Yanliang, which is renowned for its aviation technology. After years of development, it is currently a comprehensive aviation design, manufacturing, appraisal, test flight, teaching, and research city. Therefore, Yanliang's image in the outside world is mainly a modern aviation technology zone

In fact, Yanliang was once a very famous place. Yanliang has a very long history, as early as 6000 years ago during the Yangshao culture, there were many ancestors living here. Leaving behind 'Yihe', 'Gushan', 'Nankangqiao' and 'Bosal Village' Yangshao culture ruins

During the 2300 years, one relocation of capital brought Yanliang to the peak of its historical status. From 383 BC to 350 BC, Qin Emperor Xian Gong moved the capital from Yongcheng (now Baishang Fengxiang) to Luoyang (today's Yanliang Town, Wutun Village) to compete with the Wei Kingdom for the land in the Hexi area. Afterwards, he used Luoyang as the capital for 33 years. Although Luoyang's time as the capital was shorter than Yongcheng and Xianyang, Luoyang's time as the capital, Qin Xiao Gong used Shang Meng to implement reforms here, marking the beginning of Qin's unification of the Six Kingdoms, laying the foundation for the Qin's unification of the Six Kingdoms, so it was named 'China's earliest law-based country'. Shang Meng reform marked the beginning of Yanliang's glory. However, within 30 years, the Qin capital moved to Xianyang, and then it was a capital for 114 years

117 years later, during the late Qin Dynasty, the country was in turmoil. After the uprising of Xiang Yu and Liu Bang, they met in Guanzhong. Xiang Yu was in power and called himself 'Xichu Ba Wang', and he enfeoffed various regions. Sima Xin was enfeoffed as the King of Sie, and his capital was Luoyang. But the good times didn't last long, 'Hanwang' Liu Bang 'built a fence and then crossed it', and instantly seized Guanzhong. Luoyang as the capital only lasted for half a year. Afterwards, Liu Bang used Luoyang as his capital to fight with Xiang Yu for several years, and finally defeated Xiang Yu and established the Han Dynasty. Before Han Chang'an City was completed, Liu Bang and his family lived in Luoyang and buried his father in the north of Luoyang, which is now at the intersection of Fuping and Yanliang

During the Yuan Dynasty, Luoyang was merged into Lingtong. Afterwards, it belonged to Lingtong for a long period of time

In 1958, the country built a plane manufacturing enterprise 172 Factory (now Xiwei Company) in Yanliang. In order to accelerate the construction of 172 Factory, according to the proposal of Deng Xiaoping, with the approval of the State Council, on August 1, 1966, Yanliang District was established, under the administration of Xi'an City

Yanliang is a small place, there are not many tourist attractions to visit. The main ones include an aviation technology museum and several historical sites

1. Aviation Technology Museum (AAA level)

The Aviation Technology Museum is Yanliang's only AAA-level tourist attraction. As an aviation technology city, Yanliang has great conditions for developing aviation tourism. However, it's regrettable that currently tourists in Yanliang can only visit one 3A-level scenic area, the Aviation Technology Museum. I believe that the types are not enough, the experience is not in-depth, there is a great potential for improvement

The Aviation Technology Museum is planned and managed by Xi'an Aviation Vocational and Technical College. The Aviation Technology Museum is divided into two themes: the World Aviation Development History and the China Aviation Development History. In the lobby, the F5, Y5 and other precious real aircraft formed a triangular matrix in the center of the exhibition hall. Visitors can observe these real aircraft up close. 2. Luoyang City Ruins

Luoyang City Ruins are located between Guan Zhuang Village and Guocun Village, Wutun Town, Yanliang District, Xi'an

It was excavated twice, the first excavation discovered three streets and six city gates, and the second excavation discovered three city gates and thirteen streets. The entire city is rectangular, with east-west length of 1800 meters and north-south length of 2200 meters. It discovered a foundry site for iron smelting, and there are known to be three pieces made in Luoyang, which indicates that Luoyang was a key base for Qin's iron smelting and weapon making

However, most of the Luoyang City Ruins have been backfilled currently, ordinary tourists cannot see anything. You can only take pictures with a national key cultural relic protection memorial tablet

3. Han Emperor's Mausoleum

Liu Bang's father was the first Emperor in history. This farmer from the county of Paizhou, finally left his name in history after his son, whom he considered an uneducated child, became emperor. The old man was captured by Xiang Yu, threatened Liu Bang to boil him. As a result, Liu Bang didn't pay attention, and finally Xiang Yu didn't kill him. A great disaster survived, and his son became an emperor, and he upgraded to a Grand Emperor, and enjoyed his old age in Luoyang Palace. After his death, he was buried near Luoyang City, which is now at the intersection of Fuping and Yanliang, called 'Wanyuan Tomb', also known as 'Emperor's Mausoleum', eight-corner tomb

Of course, Yanliang also has some tourist attractions for locals, such as Yanliang Park and Shichuan River. I will not recommend them anymore
