Caojiatun Village of Xuyue District, Shuanghe
Shuanghe Village is located at the southernmost end of Caojiatun, with an area of nearly 5 square kilometers, only 5 kilometers from the city center, with 324 Provincial Road running through it, and the 'Happiness Avenue' passing through it, with Pear Garden and Sycamore Garden as two major scenic areas, with convenient transportation and obvious location advantages. Last year, through attracting investment and introducing large-scale planting households to develop efficient agriculture, a high-efficiency stone fruit base park integrating tourism, picking, amusement, trading, display, farmhouse tourism, and stone fruit cultivation has been built. Currently, the area of soft-seed stone fruit cultivation has reached 1500 acres.

The essence of villages formed early with abundant cultural and natural resources, and with a certain historical, cultural, scientific, artistic, economic and social value, which should be protected. Traditional villages contain rich historical information and cultural landscapes, which are the largest legacy of China's agricultural civilization.


In 2017, the 'Jiangsu Province Traditional Village Heritage Site Protection Regulations' were introduced to define the standards for identifying traditional villages:
Villages that meet one of the following conditions can be identified as traditional villages:
The site selection and layout preserve the traditional pattern and historical style, integrate with nature, the environment is natural, the scale is pleasant, and embodies the wisdom of human and nature coexistence in construction;Historical buildings and traditional buildings are well preserved, reflecting a certain historical period or specific regional construction traditions and architectural styles;
Able to carry hometown memories and belonging, with well-preserved historical relics such as regional pavilions, archways, bridges, theaters, wells, and old trees that have regional influence;
Exhibit traditional characteristics and regional representation, reflecting the regional characteristics and production and life styles of the agricultural civilization period, such as farming, animal husbandry, fishing, handicraft production skills and manufacturing techniques;
Preserved living conditions of distinctive regional folk culture features, traditional skills and other non-material cultural heritage.
The regulations clearly state that
traditional village protection and development should be included in the national economy and social development planning, increase financial investment, traditional villages should be a priority support object for characteristic rural tourism construction, improve the basic infrastructure, public facilities and living environment of traditional villages!
