Lake Zhou Film City: A Hidden Attraction Unknown to Most Locals, Tourists Complain About High Ticket Prices

Lake Zhou Film City is located at No. 5000 Taihu Road, in the central area of the Taihu Tourism Resort in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is a tourism scenic area with a focus on film shooting services, combined with sightseeing and tourism, as well as cultural entertainment. Entrance requires a ticket purchase of 120 yuan.

Lake Zhou Film City was built relatively late and its publicity has been limited, so many visitors are unaware of its existence. However, in recent years, popular dramas such as ‘Those Years Are Wonderful’ and ‘A Big Dream’ were filmed here. Therefore, its buildings are mainly modeled after the Republic of China era.
The city also has a track where you can ride a sightseeing bus to explore. The houses along the roads are mostly empty inside, and some even lack back doors, all designed for filming purposes. Due to a lack of landscaping, it appears somewhat gray and bleak.

In the center of the film city is a large church, where the church is decorated with wedding scenes, and tourists can watch free stage performances there, which is relatively lively.

The film city also has some colorful European-style buildings, which are very suitable for taking photos. However, the number is not much, and the main focus is on late Qing and early Republican-era Shanghai architecture.
As you walk along the road, you will clearly see ‘Shanghai’. The main attractions include the Shanghai Branch of Bank of China, Customs House, HSBC Building, Church Square, Shikumen houses, and Wang Jinguiguan (Wang Weiping’s Mansion).

The most striking feature is ‘Shanghai Bund’, which has been realistically restored to recreate the scenes of old Shanghai’s ‘Shanghai Bund’ from the 1920s and 30s. Stepping into it naturally brings to mind the scenes of Stephen Chow and Zhao Yaqi walking together in ‘Shanghai Bund’ – it’s super photogenic or for recording videos.

Lake Zhou Film City is not yet fully completed, and Phase Two will further develop areas such as 'Ten Miles of Qin Huai', 'Thirteen Rivers and Lakes', and 'Royal Gardens', which will bring tourists even more rich experiences. However, the high price may deter many people.## ##
