Tongzhou Chunshen ‘Residence Park’ (5) Liu Yin Square

Chat You Park - Liu Yin Square

Liu Yin Square, connected to the park's main entrance and largest cruise terminal; the right bank is a major tourist gathering place.
The naming of Liu Yin Square comes from the over ten large willow trees on the square, which were already there before the park was built. We also specially built tree pools in the surrounding area in the shape of boats, as if a fleet of barges were docked at the terminal. Visitors sitting on them have a feeling of an inland waterway cruise, which is very comfortable.

Speaking of Liu Yin Square, we must mention the ‘Jia Ba’ sculpture set up here. This group of sculptures depicts the unique festival ‘Kai Cao Festival’ of Tongzhou. In the early Ming Dynasty, the Tonghui River was severely silted up. When serving as the (), Wu Zhong wrote to the Emperor Jingdi, requesting to dredge the Tonghui River. After the Tonghui River was dredged, grain could be directly delivered to warehouses, saving a large amount of transportation costs, thus laying an immortal merit for the construction and prosperity of Beijing. The people of Tongzhou specially built a shrine for Wu Zhong to express their appreciation for his great contribution. Every year on the first day of the third month, when the first batch of barges arrived at the Tongzhou wharf, the people on both banks held a ‘Jia Ba’ ceremony, which is the ‘Kai Cao Festival’. Among the over 72 () along the Grand Canal, only Tongzhou has the ‘Kai Cao Festival’, which is unique in the world as a non-material cultural heritage.
