Springtime in Hangzhou: Blooming Flowers and a Picnic at Drum Tower—Wugongshan!
—
Take a slow pace, find a lively and relaxing place to spend the day.
If you want to find such a comfortable and relaxed place in Hangzhou, come to Lao Hangzhou. The side of the drum tower next to Wugongshan

For many years, people have been accustomed to calling Wushan asCity God Mountain”, while Wugongshan is just a branch of Wushan.
When it comes to Wugongshan, you may have passed by Donghu Street many times without noticing that there is a quiet entrance hidden in this bustling city.

From Dajing Lane’s western side of the Huanxuilou, on a weathered black plaque with traces of time, the words ‘Wugongshan’ are engraved, and the wooden frame is slightly open. The old city scenery is waiting for you to climb up the stone steps and discover it.
Here, you can see the close and dense late-afternoon residential architecture with white walls and black tiles.
Continue upwards, and you’ll arrive at Wugong Temple, where Wuzi, a Grand Scholar of the State of Wu during the Spring and Autumn period, is worshipped.
Wugong Temple has been rebuilt several times, and the one you see now mostly dates back to the Qing Dynasty, but it isHangzhou’s earliest recorded Zen Temple.

It is said that it began around the midpoint of the mountain, where you can see ‘outdoor tea rooms’ covered with felt or plastic sheeting, with tables and chairs arranged diagonally, and silk tea flags fluttering above.
At the tables, no one pays attention to the passing tourists, and no one is surprised by your appearance, because this place is already integrated into life and is the beginning of a true old Hangzhou resident’s day.
In the morning, you bring a bird cage, hum a tune, and when a card game starts, you can enjoy yourself and linger for a whole day. Who cares about the worries of life outside of this comfortable life?

If you really want to explore this mountain, the humanistic ancient sites may take a whole day to visit.East Yue Temple, Pung Shui Temple, Mingxianglou, Twelve Zodiac StonePavilions, towers, pavilions, and singing halls. During festivals, the stage on the mountain is built high, and the scene is lively.

In the late spring and early summer, you can see several ancient camphor trees with a history of nearly a thousand years hidden in the green grass on both sides of the road. The people who live here have gained a hermit-like style because of this tranquility.
Below the mountain is the bustling Donghu Street, and outside the mountains and rivers, on the city walls, boxers, dancers, and swordsmen naturally achieve the vibrant atmosphere of the foot of the Huangcheng.
