China's Most Challenging and Beautiful Great Wall Section: Less Visited, Only 21 Yuan Ticket Price
When it comes to the Great Wall, everyone's first impression is the majestic and grand Badaling Great Wall. The Badaling Great Wall Scenic Area is undoubtedly famous all over the world. Today, the editor will introduce a less visited section of the Great Wall – Suspended Wall. Although its length is far less than the former, its magnificent momentum is no less than that of Badaling Great Wall. And the ticket price here is only 21 yuan.

Suspended Wall is located in Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province, and is only 8 kilometers from Jiayuguan Fort. The two sections of the Great Wall follow the black mountain range upwards, resembling a pair of long arms embracing the Jiayuguan Gorge. On the ridge, it looks like the Great Wall is hanging upside down, a fortress suspended in the air, hence the name 'Suspended Wall'. The Arm-extended Wall is an extension of Jiayuguan Fort to the north, and also an important component of Jiayuguan's ancient military defense system.

The Great Wall was built in the 19th year of the Jiajing reign (1540), built with gravel and soil collected locally. Now only 750 meters remains. After renovation in 1987, one pavilion was added to each end, and now there are three pavilions. In order to facilitate tourists' climbing, a stepped ramp was added during the reconstruction, although it only has over 400 steps, climbing down can make tourists sweat profusely.

Looking out, the Suspended Wall looks like a majestic yellow dragon crawling onto the ridge, standing proudly on the steep cliffs. In the vast Gobi Desert and Black Mountain, only the Suspended Wall hangs on the peak. Due to many city walls hanging on the cliff, climbing the Arm-extended Wall consumes a lot of physical energy. When the steep ramp of steps stretches under one's feet, the urge to give up becomes even stronger.

Climbing the Great Wall, standing on the city wall and looking out, the magnificent scenery outside the pass is all within sight, the vast wind and sand, the endless desolation, and the green shoots in the Gobi, makes one feel a sense of wonder. The scenes of battles fought in the fields a hundred years ago seem to be displayed before one's eyes. At this time, one can feel the pride and resilience of the Suspended Wall preserved in the world, although corroded by time and no longer has the vitality of blood and flesh, it still retains a firm iron will to guard the Central Plains. Even in this peaceful era after the smoke of war has ceased, the Suspended Wall still tells the story of the glorious years.
The sky here is as if filtered, some old city walls and old towers, under the sunlight, reveal a sense of distance and the historical vicissitudes, which makes one's mind wander through the five hundred years of history in between. There is also a slightly lonely leaning pavilion built on the top of the mountain. There is also a row of heart-shaped locks at the ridge, many couples left their traces here.

The famous Silk Road passed through here during the Ming Dynasty, with envoys and ministers from both sides passing through here, therefore, a group of sculptures depicting the Silk Road was built at the foot of the mountain, including the sculptures of Xuanzang, Ban Zhao, Lin Zexu, and Marco Polo, where the footprints of these people were once left in Jiayuguan. Vast Gobi, desolate desert, a ruined Great Wall, buried a century of history, take the time to climb the Arm-extended Wall and feel the culture, history, and magnificent scenery here. Seeing this, leave a message to the editor, do you want to go to see it?
