Dongzha National Nature Reserve is located at the northern foot of the Dabie Mountains at the junction of Henan and Hubei provinces, 32km from Yinchang City.
In June 2001, Dongzha National Nature Reserve was approved by the State Council, with a total area of 46,800 hectares. The reserve is home to 1,879 plant species, 37 animal species, 44 amphibian and reptile species, 237 bird species, including 39 key national protected bird species, and 95 species listed on the Sino-Japanese migratory bird protection agreement. It is known as a 'Bird Paradise' and a multi-functional, comprehensive natural protection area integrating natural protection, ecological tourism, bird watching, scientific research, teaching practice, leisure and entertainment, and health resorts.
