Hangzhou’s beauty is hidden in its picturesque natural landscapes, hidden in the classical poems and literary works of writers, and hidden in the shimmering West Lake.
People say that West Lake is Hangzhou’s eye. Understanding West Lake means understanding Hangzhou. Although this is an exaggeration, it vividly shows the charm of West Lake. West Lake is beautiful in all four seasons, regardless of spring, summer, autumn and winter, with different scenery and flavors. But if you come to West Lake in spring, there is one place you must go – that’s Taiziwan Park.
Taiziwan is located in the southwest corner of West Lake, originally just a lake bay, legend has it that the Southern Song princes Zhuang Wen and Jing Xian were buried here, so it was named Taiziwan. Time has passed, mountains and rivers have changed, the originally small lake bay has become a swampy depression due to silt accumulation, and later it was developed into a meadow park, becoming a free attraction surrounding West Lake.
Friends who have been to Hangzhou know that West Lake is surrounded by historical sites and cultural relics, with a wealth of cultural relics. It takes several days to fully explore them. If you come to Hangzhou in spring, you must not miss Taiziwan Park. Some say, ‘Taiziwan’ occupies half of West Lake’s spring beauty. Taiziwan is not a large park, but it is a well-known flower viewing spot in Hangzhou. In March and April every year, the cherry blossoms and tulips in the park gradually bloom, accompanied by the reflection of surrounding mountains, lakes and forests, creating a picture of Jiangnan spring scenery.
Last time I came, the cherry blossoms had fallen, the tulips were still in full bloom. The first time I saw such a large area of tulips with different colors, I felt that spring was so bright and beautiful, making me feel refreshed and relaxed.
Besides the colorful tulips, I always feel that green is Taiziwan Park’s ‘main color’. Colorful flowers are just decorations. Looking out, the whole park seems to be covered with an invisible green. Mountains and trees in the distance, trees and lakes, all have different shades of green. Standing in it, I realized that the spring scenery of Jiangnan is so vibrant and colorful.
If you want to visit Taiziwan Park, you must avoid the large crowds. Everyone loves beautiful scenery, and it is said that Taiziwan Park’s peak season in March and April once recorded more than 100,000 visitors a day, which shows its popularity. When I came, it was Monday, and I got there early, so there were not many tourists.
Spring is green again, and it’s another year. This spring is a little special, but Taiziwan Park has reopened, but visiting requires advance booking, with 10,000 visitors a day. If you have the opportunity, would you like to come and see it?
