There's a Magical Small Town in Iceland Where You Can See Whales All Year Round, a Truly Stunning Sight
In this magical land of Iceland, each city has a different landscape, always bringing many highlights and surprises. In Iceland, the small town of Husavik, with a population of less than 1000, is known as ‘Europe’s Whale Watching Capital’, with a 99.5% probability of seeing whales.

And in the winter, the small town is as beautiful as an ice and snow kingdom, known as ‘The Most Beautiful Small Town in the Arctic Circle’. After arriving in Husavik, the shore was full of boats going out to sea, and the distant snow mountains were clearly visible. It was said that the probability of seeing the opposite snow mountain was very low.

But unexpectedly, the sea winds suddenly became very strong, and not a single boat going out to sea, so we were told that we could not go out to sea temporarily. When will we be able to go out to sea, we can only wait for the wind to become smaller and wait for notification.
So we returned to Husavik noon to continue waiting, and there was a restaurant in the port where we could eat hot lunch. Looking at the outside wind, I thought I might become one of the 0.5% who couldn't watch whales, but suddenly I was told that we could go out to sea, which was a moment of great excitement. Icelanders are very cautious, and once they can go out to sea, safety is no problem.

When getting on the boat, the sky was still such a dark cloud, making the already cold weather even more severe. And even in summer, the temperature here is not high.

It took about 2 hours to go out to sea to watch whales, and the boat had to go out for a period of time before it could reach the whale watching area. Going to the North Atlantic Ocean to watch whales and visit islands is one of the most important activities in the town. The first whale watching activity started here in 1995 and has been continuing until now.

Because I was worried about seasickness, I went to the pharmacy early in the morning to buy seasickness medicine and took it beforehand. After getting on the boat, I didn’t go anywhere, and honestly sat on the middle bench of the boat, I was drowsy and fell asleep.
When whales appeared in the viewing area, the tour guide on the boat would shout, even if you couldn't react to the four directions where the whales were, you would look in the direction where they were shouted, you would look in that direction.

When whales spouted water, rainbows would appear, which was beautiful. If you want to see rare whales, this is the best destination. Blue whales, humpback whales and white whales will appear in this area.

As a herd animal, whales often come out to sea in groups. So two whales would come out together, which were really huge.

Because of the strong winds, there was only one large boat and another small boat chasing the whale, the small boat could watch the whale more closely.

When the whales jumped out of the water, it was really shocking. It felt like the real master of the sea. As long as you maintain a reasonable speed and distance, you can get along with the whales.
During this outing, I always sat in the central position of the boat, the place with the least rocking. When I could see whales, I would go out. So I, who was always afraid of seasickness, was in a very good state this time. On the way back, the boat provided hot chocolate and bread, and I ate a portion of it happily.

It's really worth going out to sea to watch whales in Iceland. Seeing them freely swimming in the sea, I felt that my heart had become particularly relaxed. When do you plan to go to Iceland to see whales?
