Visiting Qin Shi Huang's Father and Son's Tombs, Reflecting What 'Heaven and Earth' Means

I am Cheng in English, starting from 2014, I have used 4 years to travel through all districts of Shaanxi, and investigated most of the tourism resources. Now I want to sort out the resources of each district for reference by cultural and tourism enthusiasts. Today I want to talk about one of Qin Shi Huang's father and son's tombs. Qin Shi Huang's mausoleum, in fact, many people have been to, currently the most well-known tourist attractions in Shaanxi. While his two sons' tombs are not so well-known.

Qin Shi Huang is the first emperor of ancient China. 13 years old ascended the throne, 40 years old defeated all countries, completed China's first unification of politics for the first time. To commend his great achievement of establishing heaven, he took two characters from the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors and called it emperor. He became the first monarch in China to be called emperor.

In ancient China, people paid attention to burial customs, treating death as if it were life. Therefore, Qin Shi Huang built a mausoleum for himself from when he ascended the throne. His mausoleum is located in today's Tang County, Xi'an. The mausoleum is a collection of the tomb-setting system of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. The earthen pile was extremely high and mighty, and when it was first built, it was said to be 200 meters high. Now it has weathered for 2000 years and is still 100 meters high.

What's even more amazing is underground. It is said that there is a luxurious palace underground, with many exquisite treasures displayed. One of the accompanying tombs was the terracotta army, which has been praised by the world as the 'Eighth Wonder of the World'. If the underground palace one day reappears, how much sensation would it cause?

Qin Shi Huang's mausoleum is one of the largest in scale and with the most peculiar structure and the most abundant connotation among royal tombs. It was listed as a World Heritage Site.

Let's talk about Qin Shi Huang's sons' tombs, which is really sad. There were many descendants of the First Emperor, but they were all killed by Hu Hai. There are no tombs left today. In Shaanxi, there is a tomb of Fusu and a tomb of Hu Hai. The tomb of Fusu and the tomb of Hu Hai are compared to their father, they are heaven and earth.

Qin Shi Huang's eldest son was Fusu. It is said that Fusu was kind and insightful, and he advised his father to correct his mistakes, opposing the massacre of 'violators' over 460 people. This angered Qin Shi Huang, who dispatched him to the border regions to assist General Meng Tian in building the Great Wall and fighting against the Huns. Fusu's residence is now in Suide County, Shaanxi.

Although Qin Shi Huang was not very satisfied with Fusu, he still designated him as the heir to the throne. However, Zhao Gao had ulterior motives, he colluded with Li Si, and proclaimed Hu Hai as the emperor, and sent a decree to him to commit suicide,

Poor Fusu died by self-slaughter. Today, there is a tomb of Fusu in Shusu Mountain, Suide County, Yulin. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Shaanxi Province. Combining historical data, it is credible that Fusu was buried here. The tomb has been damaged over the years, and the existing scale is very small. Currently, there is no tourism development, and it is very original.

Let's talk about Hu Hai, he enjoyed 3 years, but it brought the demise of the Qin Dynasty. If he knew this day would come, he might not have seized the throne. If Hu Hai didn't compete for power, Fusu would succeed, then history would be unpredictable.
