From Childhood to Adulthood, Stir-fried Green Peppers with Dried Tofu – Should You Fry the Peppers First or the Tofu?

Looking for something to eat with your rice porridge? Don't worry, here's a share of farm-fresh side dishes that takes just 5 minutes to prepare!
Love to start your day with a bowl of rice porridge, but often find yourself struggling to find a suitable side dish. Besides scrambled eggs and pickled radish, I recently made a delicious side dish – stir-fried green peppers with dried tofu. It's simple, savory, and nutritious! Green peppers stimulate your appetite, dried tofu is rich in protein, and it's even better for calcium intake than pickled radish. I even ate leftovers for lunch! Many people find it confusing when they first try this dish – whether to first stir-fry the green peppers or the dried tofu. I think it's better to first stir-fry the green peppers to ensure they are thoroughly cooked and fragrant. As for dried tofu, it's best to blanch it briefly to remove the bean flavor. If you buy pre-packaged dried tofu, just cut it into small strips and stir-fry it directly.

This is a side dish I’ve been keeping for a long time. The dried tofu is vacuum-packed and has been stored for a while. You can cut it open and use it as a cold dish, but I prefer to stir-fry it. The green peppers have been in my fridge for almost two weeks, and they’ll start to turn yellow if not used quickly.I don't know what to do first, whether to stir-fry the green peppers or the dried tofu. I think it's better to first stir-fry the green peppers to ensure they are thoroughly cooked and fragrant. As for dried tofu, it's best to blanch it briefly to remove the bean flavor.
This is a new side dish I added to my family. It's very appetizing and easy to make, taking just 5 minutes to cook a whole plate. I used five-flavor dried tofu today, so I didn’t need to add any extra seasonings. It's delicious just by stir-frying it! I really love this dish and I’ll never worry about what to use as a side dish for my morning rice porridge anymore. In the future, I'll buy less pickled radish and make this dish myself in just 5 minutes. Below, I’ll share the detailed recipe for this simple and delicious side dish with you all.

Green Pepper with Dried Tofu
Ingredients:
Five-flavor dried tofu 1 package, green peppers 1, ginger 1 slice, garlic 1 clove, a little light soy sauce, a little sugar, a little chicken broth powder, appropriate amount of cooking oil.
Steps:

1Prepare the ingredients, cut the green peppers into strands, cut the dried tofu into short strands, slice the ginger and garlic for preparation.

2Heat a wok and add oil, sauté ginger, garlic, and green peppers to release their fragrance, then add a little light soy sauce and stir-fry evenly.
3Add the dried tofu and stir-fry evenly. Add a little water and sugar, stir-fry evenly.

4Fry for about 2 minutes, allowing the green peppers and dried tofu to absorb the flavors. Sprinkle a little chicken broth powder and stir-fry to finish, and you’re done!

Because the dried tofu is salty, I didn’t add any salt, just a little light soy sauce and sugar to enhance the flavor, which is just right – savory and appetizing. If you like spicy food, add a spoonful of chili oil, and it will surely be fragrant. Do you have someone who likes to eat rice porridge in the morning like me? Have you ever worried about what to use as a side dish? Then try this green pepper with dried tofu, which takes just 5 minutes, and it’s much healthier than pickled radish. I hope my sharing can bring a little help to your life.
